American Idol again

I talked about him (link) before.

I say it again! Joshua Ledet. American Idol!

Oh do, oh do watch him sing.

'American Idol': Joshua Ledet brings down the house on 'When a Man Loves a Woman'

'American Idol's' Top 11 performances was bopping along, nothing terrible, but nothing spectacular. And then Joshua Ledet took to the stage with "When a Man Loves a Woman" and - wow. Chills.

The key change was amazing and then he whipped off his jacket like a rock star. The judges went leaping to their feet. Frankly, we thought J.Lo was going to have a stroke, she was so excited. She even proclaimed it "the best thing [she's] ever seen on 'American Idol.'"

American Idol

the last day of February

Thirty days hath September,
April,  June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one
Excepting February alone,
And that has twenty-eight days clear
And twenty-nine in each Leap year.

The season has only begun. Last night the guys sang and tonight, the ladies. I have NEVER seen so good a group as Season 11. From thousands, thousands of auditions- six episodes of them - have arrived the top twenty-four. There was an unprecedented second chance given a 13th guy live last night, a call back for the "gentle giant" Jermaine Jones, a low baritone, 'cause the producers probably thinks the show needs his big ole' voice and boy does he sing! So now the top twenty-five! This show was awesome, the awesomest first night I've watched - and this guy seriously blew me away! Mad good, says Randy Jackson!

Who Is Joshua Ledet?

Joshua Ledet auditions before the judges in Galveston, TX
American Idol Season 11 contestant Joshua Ledet is one of the top twenty-four finalists, singing his way into the judges’ (and viewers’) hearts with “Jar of Hearts.” Joshua, 19, attended Westlake High School in Louisiana. Besides belting his sweet heart out, Joshua works for the police department and attends Lamar University.

Joshua began singing at age 3 in his dad’s church, basking in the glow of the parish’s support. It just felt so great to see all those people smiling and screaming.  I knew it was something I wanted to do the rest of my life.” Joshua has always been an Idol fan, he says in his Road to Hollywood interview. “I’ve wondered, ‘Why can’t that be me on stage, doing the same thing they’re doing?’”

After Joshua's performance in the semifinals, (Jennifer Hudson's "You Pulled Me Through") Jennifer Lopez was so thrilled with his singing she wanted to punch him. Steven gushed, "you have the voice the world has been waiting for."
Season 11 round 1: PLEASE WATCH!

Idol

I welcomed the end of the 10th Idol season last night.

Scotty won!

Kent and I sat on the couch and I almost blubbered like babies watching him thank the Lord then, and his parents and family and his fans, singing I Love You This Big and himself almost crying at the end. I was sad for Lauren like I knew I would be. But for my money the voting was right on.

Though I wasn't one of the whopping 122 million who voted.

I loved that Scotty offered his first thanks last night to the Lord, his voice and face resonant while he acknowledged and his hands up in prayer form. The moment was a highlight for me - of an otherwise (should I say it:?) ghastly (in places) two hours which we fast-forwarded through much of - which I guess was what made me tear up. Congrats, Scotty!
